Héros Indigènes

“Pakistan, a country unsure of its heroes” (Mohsin Hamid), This blog is part of the effort to search for the native heroes.

About

The line, ‘Pakistan, a nation unsure of its heores’ , from one of the articles by Mohsin Hamid, struck me hard.

In Pakistan, a hero of one decade is the villain of the next. We have ‘cardboard’ heroes curved out of nothing, imported economy specialists, self proclaimed saviours of the nation, retired government servants trying to grab media attention and what not. Their heroics are often wrapped up with the rulers who make them so.

While there have been & will be, men and women who actually deserve to be called heroes. But mostly, rather than hailing them, they are exiled for there love of expressing themselves freely, banned for their out of ordinary thoughts, shun by the political masters, discredited and made controversial for not being conventionalist.

This blog is dedicated to all those people. Who should be ( in my personal and humble opinion) praised and remembered, as heroes.

*please forgive the masculine biasness of the term ‘heroes’, afterall, its the issue with a term used in this particular (foreign) langauge I am trying to express myself.
